My grandmother ,in Tanjore, she used to collect the cow- dung and the rice hay and make them in to balls. She used to keep them all round in a circle and allow them to slow burn.It will be there until all get burnt.Nobody disturbed that,Finally she will collect them and filter them carefully. You will really get a fine ash which we all used at home everyday. She also used to smear her forehead with that vibhoothi. We had a dog ,which used to accompany her all the way.It also used to go along with her everywhere and return.
